What To Do If You Get Into A Motorcycle Accident After Hitting A Pothole

It’s nice when Kansas City receives national recognition. It’s not so nice when that recognition comes from having some of the worst potholes in the country. Unfortunately, Kansas City has appeared on such a list. Although attempts have been made to fill in the many potholes, our weather conditions make that a never-ending process.

Potholes are nuisances for car drivers because they may cause damage to the vehicle. On the other hand, potholes can be dangerous for motorcyclists. Unfortunately, motorcycle accidents as a result of hitting a pothole are more common than one would think. Although potholes cannot be blamed for all of the fatalities, there were almost 5,000 motorcycle-related deaths in the U.S. last year alone.

The most common reasons for a pothole-related accident include the following:

  • The pothole was unavoidable because of other vehicles or pedestrians.
  • The pothole was deeper than what the driver initially thought.
  • The pothole was challenging to see because of an incline in the road.
  • The pothole was filled with water or debris and could not be seen.

Do one of these reasons sound familiar? Have you been in a similar accident in the Kansas City area?
